Spring Term – Market Towns – Our classes will take us on a creative journey through the Market Towns of the East Midlands — each with its own unique charm, character, and visual richness. Month by month, we’ll explore a different county, uncovering the textures of old stone streets, the rhythm of bustling markets, the quiet poetry of historic buildings, and the shifting moods of rural edges and waterways.
Each session will offer a wide range of resources, ensuring you can choose the scenes, stories, and viewpoints that speak to you. From intimate architectural details to sweeping townscapes, you’ll be encouraged to look beyond the obvious and discover the painterly possibilities hidden in everyday places.
Our focus will be both inviting and suitably challenging: experimenting with composition, capturing atmosphere, and pushing your observational skills. Whether you prefer loose, expressive mark-making or carefully layered detail, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to stretch your creativity in a supportive, friendly environment.
Join us as we wander, sketch, and paint our way through these diverse and characterful locations — and let each town inspire new confidence, new techniques, and new artistic discoveries.
